We recently published a feature story called "Myth-Busting and the Great Gray Wolf. " It is powerful, not only for its timely significance related to January’s 30th anniversary of the wolf reintroduction to Yellowstone, but also for its reliance on the facts that we base our lives on. At Mountain Journal, our mission is to translate scientific fact and data through our reporting and the stories we write.

Just as the summer tourist season ramps up, Yellowstone National Park is down one exceptionally food-motivated grizzly bear. On May 15, park staff trapped and killed an 11-year-old male, Yellowstone’s first removal of a “nuisance bear” since September 2017. This bear’s euthanization capped a particularly sad week for grizzlies of Greater Yellowstone.
