With our San Antonio event just around the corner, we wanted to highlight one of our wonderful volunteers (and ambassadors), Deana Moreno. Deana owns RDA Fitness & MMA in San Antonio and is a longtime supporter of Tap Cancer Out! Deana is a Marine Corps veteran with 4 kids and 1 grandbaby. She is a Judo Black Belt and BJJ purple belt. Deana got involved in Tap Cancer Out when her husband was diagnosed with Stage 4 gastric cancer. A year later, Deana herself was diagnosed with breast cancer. Unfortunately, her husband passed in July 2022 and her brother-in-law passed in October 2022 from angiosarcoma. In addition, her grandfather and uncle also passed from cancer, and her grandmother is a breast cancer survivor. Deana got involved with TCO for all of them, along with many friends who have had to battle against the terrible disease. She says she loves everything that TCO stands for, and she has had nothing but great experiences with the people involved. Deana mentioned she also enjoys seeing communities across the nation fighting together for a great cause. Deana is a pillar of strength in the BJJ community,y and we are so grateful to have her part of the TCO Family. (fb)
