The College of the Desert Board of Trustees has selected Val Martinez Garcia as the college’s ninth Superintendent/President. Mr. Martinez Garcia’s appointment follows a national search. From a pool of 73 qualified applicants, four finalists participated in public forums and final interviews. Bringing over two decades of higher education leadership experience, Martinez Garcia has held key roles at the College of the Desert including Vice President of Instruction and Vice President of Student Services. He has played a central role in strategic planning, student support, and facilities expansion projects.
