Overview

Ducks Unlimited, Inc. is a U.S. nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of wetlands and associated habitats for waterfowl and other wildlife. Founded in 1937 during the Dust Bowl era, Ducks Unlimited has become the world's largest private waterfowl and wetlands conservation organization. History

Ducks Unlimited was established by Joseph Knapp, Robert Winthrop, E.H. Low, and a group of sportsmen who recognized the need to protect North America's waterfowl, whose populations had dramatically declined due to habitat loss during the Dust Bowl. On January 29, 1937, Ducks Unlimited was officially incorporated, with Ducks Unlimited Canada being incorporated in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on March 10, 1937. Over the years, the organization has expanded its efforts across North America and has worked with numerous partners, including governments, landowners, and other conservation groups.

Mission and Vision

The mission of Ducks Unlimited is centered on habitat conservation, aiming to preserve wetlands for future generations. The organization's vision is to have wetlands sufficient to ensure the abundance of waterfowl today and in the future. Education and Outreach

Ducks Unlimited produces a television show, Ducks Unlimited TV, which highlights conservation efforts and waterfowl hunting. The organization also participates in educational partnerships, such as the "Ducks Unlimited Canada Endowed Chair in Wetland and Waterfowl Conservation" with the University of Saskatchewan. This position supports research, education, and outreach related to wetland conservation.
