Today, we’re celebrating Paris – an expert chess-playing, woodshop-loving inspiration who has had a challenging, but inspiring journey. After Paris was bullied and physically assaulted at school, her emergency visit to Children's Wisconsin became a turning point. There, Paris and her mom, Celia, connected with Project Ujima, a program helping young violence victims heal. Her dedicated case worker, Michael Thomas, Crime Victim Advocate, advocated at school, ensured her safe return and provided crucial one-on-one support to process her trauma. The transformation continued at Project Ujima Summer Camp, where Paris found both therapy and fun – connecting with peers who understood her experience while enjoying movies, golf, fishing and camping. Now, Paris is excelling in a new school, building strong friendships, mastering woodworking and chess, and rewriting her narrative. Today, Michael surprised Paris with her very own, personalized chess set 💙.
