Every Saturday for the past 5 years, we’ve shown up at this lot. Rain, snow, pandemic, extreme heat, severe cold, holidays, we show up. Folks know where to find us. They know that we’ll be there, the same faces, the same smiles, the same love, every Saturday. It’s no secret that the city of Philadelphia has waged a war against people who use drugs. That includes outreach groups, which have been told the only place they’re allowed to serve is…the lot pictured above, which just happens to be home base for our Saturday outreach. To say we were surprised to find it locked on Saturday morning would be a lie. Setting up on the sidewalk surrounding the lot made the day harder for us and for those we serve, but we made it work and we will continue to show up and make it work every week. We will continue to meet people where they are, and to advocate whenever and however we can. Please join us.
