Mission and Purpose
The LCA's mission is to educate producers and promote the Louisiana cattle industry to increase demand for beef. It focuses on enhancing industry practices, supporting local producers, and fostering a strong network among its members.
Activities and Programs
- Educational Programs: The LCA organizes producer educational seminars and offers updates on industry practices through publications like The Louisiana Cattleman magazine.
- Junior Programs: It supports youth involvement in the cattle industry through the Louisiana Junior Cattlemen's Association (LJCA), offering scholarships and showmanship awards.
- Marketing and Promotion: The association promotes beef products, supports farm-to-table initiatives, and provides marketing benefits to members.
- Policy Influence: Members have a voice in U.S. Congress and the Louisiana Legislature through LCA’s policy committees, focusing on animal health, ag policy, and environmental management.
Membership and Benefits
Membership is open to those involved in the cattle industry and offers a range of benefits, including marketing support, industry updates, and participation in policy committees. Members also receive discounts on advertisements and access to exclusive events like the annual convention and trade show.
Partnerships and Initiatives
The LCA works in partnership with organizations such as the National Cattlemen's Beef Association (NCBA) and the LSU AgCenter to enhance cattle management practices and market value. It also participates in initiatives like the Beef Quality Assurance Program and the Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative.
