Meet Theo! 🤩 Theo was another unexpected arrival turned resident during the LA fires, but his story was a little bit different - just in the midst of the chaos. Theo is an 18 year old, handsome young man who has OPINIONS 😂 He is the biggest love bug when the world is revolving around him, as it should be, but the moment attention is diverted - he *will* have something to say about it. Especially if it’s for another cat 🤣 Theo was originally under @fflrescuenetwork, but they have been slowly closing their operations since moving to Oregon. A few foster homes remained in LA & one of these fosters we got word had unexpectedly passed away 😣 We don’t know all of the details exactly, just that animal control arrived at the home and all the cats were taken to shelter. We were made aware of the situation two days later, right in the midst of the LA fires which was already causing chaos amongst the local shelters. Because LA is so overwhelmed, there are a multitude of city shelters and we were attempting to track down which of these shelters Theo had been brought to. Being a senior with a variety of health concerns, we wanted him somewhere safe as soon as possible & hopefully not mixed up in any rescue transport resulting from the fires. It was a mess, but we finally found him! 😅 We told Friends For Life to just bring him to us for safety while we figured out his new placement. We got him to our vet and found that, since his last bloodwork, his kidney levels had significantly declined 😞 His arthritis was clearly uncomfortable, we had to shave his back end of matting, & he had a horrible ear infection and UTI - but he was happy & wanting all the love! 🥹 We started Theo on a special diet & a plethora of medication, including a BP med which we have been checking in on monthly due to his inconsistent results 🥴 He has struggled again with a UTI since his first one on arrival & to be honest - the boy is a bit of a mess 😅😂 But a happy, handsome, spoiled mess 🥹💖 Not knowing what life has in store for him, we didn’t want Theo to end up being passed all around again for his final years, so we offered for him to stay with us, however long that may be💕 (fb)

We’d like to introduce you to Earl 🫴🏻 Earl arrived during the LA fires with a group of cats we were assisting another rescue in the evacuation zone with. When Earl arrived, he was especially feral and his skin condition had been stumping everyone on his team for the past year 😣 The biggest challenge appeared to be Earl’s level of handle ability & how well he was willing to allow for topical treatments and recurring vet visits. It was becoming a question of whether his quality of life was deemed appropriate or fair given his circumstances and due to the severe discomfort his skin must cause. He had a long history of diagnostics and food allergy trials, but we had an idea thanks to Zabi 🤔 We decided to start with a sedated procedure to limit his stress and any trauma response he may have from the vets office to get everything done quickly & thoroughly. We ran new cultures, bloodwork, & cleaned him up as well as we could and thought…. “what if this has just been going on so long that it’s never actually had the opportunity to heal fully?” At this point, Earl had grown to trust us *slightly,* but his previously feral temperament made sense as to why a cone or surgical suit would not have worked well in his case. So while we was sedated & because of the success we had with Zabi…. we decided to do a nail cap manicure as well 💅 ✨glow in the dark edition✨ This would both limit his treatment stress & provide some protection from his scratching. We thought… maybe, just maybe, a fresh start was all he really needed 🤷🏼♀️ Well we are SO happy to report that his healing has been going INCREDIBLE! 🥹 Since January, we have earned Earl’s trust (or moreso approval of our positions as servant) & we certainly cannot call him feral anymore. He still is not our biggest fans… Earl came to judge and nothing more - he is very good at it, we respect it 😌 But we have loved watching him grow comfortable, confident, and begin to thrive🥹 You’ve got this Earl! 🩶 There’s so many more people out there to be judged by you! 🥹 (fb)
