The Rocky Mountain Rare Fungi Challenge on iNaturalist is going three for three with observations of Chlamydopus! It is stalked puffball-like mushroom that grows in desert environments, and it has a unique woody stipe that tapers at the bottom. So far, it’s been spotted in Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah. 🏔️🍄 The FUNDIS Rare Fungi Challenges (Northeast, Southeast, West Coast, and Rocky Mountain) seek to enhance our understanding of rarely-seen, target species. These insights can inform conservation efforts! Finding rare fungi is as simple as clicking “join” on the project page. 📸: @holy_egg on @inaturalistorg (fb)
