Yesterday, this juvenile rabbit was found injured and brought to me by some amazing finders here in Salem! Upon exam, he has 3 small degloving wounds on his body and he is very quiet. He allowed me to pick him up, clean his wounds, administer medicine, and pick the ticks off of his ears without a fight. Poor guy must have been through a lot and is traumatized! This morning I lifted up his hideaway to find him still cuddled up in his blankets, poops everywhere because he didn’t leave the hideaway all night, but having eaten all of the fresh greens I left for him. He tolerated another wound cleaning and round of medications. What an amazing sign! Not only just alive after his whole ordeal, but a wild cottontail eating in captivity! So if all goes well, he should be ready to go back free right around when I’m going away in exactly two weeks! Who knows what happened to this little one, but he is a fighter for sure! This time on the 12th I’ll be getting ready to land in North Carolina for my two day trip and trust me, I AM COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS 😂 (fb)

More freedom!! Between two different release sites, both of the remaining groups of bunnies (total of TEN!!!) are now free as of this morning! Please allow me today to take a breather and clean/reset the rehab room. I really need to get in there with a vacuum, as I couldn’t do it when there were bunnies in care and you can only do so much with a broom 😂 the goal is to pull out all of the big cages, vacuum behind everything, scrub and sanitize the cages, etc; all things I couldn’t do with sensitive baby bunnies in the room! I plan to reopen either later this evening or tomorrow for bunnies. BUT!!! I will be on a limited intake schedule for the next couple of weeks. I will be out of state on June 12th and 13th visiting a friend in North Carolina, so I will only be able to take animals that will be able to be released before I leave, so pretty much fully furred and/or eyes open babies, depending how close it is to my departure. After that, I will be going back on June 22 for the birthday party of two of her boys. Yes, like a crazy lady, I will be flying to and from North Carolina in one day 😂 but between work and wanting to be present for the animals, I can only make quick trips happen! But it is important to me to show up for people in my life for important moments as much as I can. It is very hard to have friendships while being a rehabber, especially with those who don’t rehab and get what we go through, so I really try to show up as much as I can in any way that I can for people in my life. And finally, I am planning to be more active again on the rescue Patreon account, so video clips of these releases will be posted on there sometime today if you would like to see them! After checking with everybody first, I have made the decision to turn the account back to a personal account, and doing what some other rehabbers do of using the account to help support themselves while they do this work. After being so burned out working two jobs to try and stay afloat, I made the decision yesterday to put in my two weeks notice at my part-time side job. There were a lot of other factors that went into that decision, but one of the main ones being that I have not been able to take in as many animals as I have in previous years because of being scheduled more than I have communicated that I wanted to be. So in order to prioritize not just the rescue and the animals but my own mental health and well-being, I’ve made the decision to quit. The Patreon account will allow me to stay afloat and help with expenses while allowing me to provide the best possible care for every animal that comes through my door. As of right now, it does not cover what I was making at the part-time job (especially having to put aside a significant amount for taxes as it is taxed in a different way), but it helps and every little bit goes such a long way! So if you would like to consider joining, the 🔗 should be in the bio of the page as well as on my website! Thank you all so much for everything, all of your support, kind words, supplies sent, just everything! I am so grateful for all of you and everything you have done for me. This rescue has brought so many good things and people into my life that would not otherwise have been possible, and for that I am eternally grateful 💕 thank you endlessly! (fb)
