DAR is a nonprofit nonpolitical volunteer womens service organization whose mission is historic preservation education and patriotism. Membership in the chapter is open to any woman 18 years of age and older regardless of race religion or ethnic background who can prove lineal descent from a man or woman who aided in achieving American independence. Lake Tahoe Chapter is one of over 3000 chapters worldwide with international membership of over 185000 women.
