Nearly two dozen graduates from Salt Lake Tech’s Lineworker Pre-Apprentice Program will be showcased in a rodeo and skills competition this Friday, May 23. Stop by the SLCC Pole Yard (399 W 9400 S in Sandy) between 9 and noon to check out the action! Thanks to @rockymountainpower Foundation, who will present a generous gift to the program at the competition, which will provide for scholarships and necessary equipment. SLCC’s Lineworker Pre-Apprentice Program qualifies students to be hired by Utah utility companies. Graduates spend four years training as apprentices, allowing them to earn a living as they work toward becoming full-fledged journeymen. The program is the only one in the state and has an 80% placement rate for its graduates.
