🚨 The U.S. is facing its worst measles outbreak since 2019, with 1,088 confirmed cases across 32 states as of May 30, 2025. WHAT ARE MEASLES? A highly contagious viral disease that spreads through the air when infected people cough, breathe, or sneeze. Symptoms include fever, rash starting on the face, cough, runny nose, and red eyes appearing 7-21 days after exposure. CURRENT OUTBREAK 📍 Texas leads with 738 cases, including 2 child deaths ❓96% of cases are unvaccinated / unknown vac. status 👉🏽Virginia has 2 confirmed cases in 2025 SERIOUS RISKS ⚠️ 1 in 5 unvaccinated people require hospitalization ⚠️ 1 in 1,000 children develop brain swelling ⚠️ Up to 3 in 1,000 infected children may die 💉 PREVENTION The MMR vaccine is safe and highly effective. Two doses provide lifetime protection. U.S. vaccination rates have dropped below the critical 95% threshold needed for community immunity. 👉🏽 BOTTOM LINE Measles is entirely preventable through vaccination.
