Feel Good Friday: Katie V., a student/family interventionist, shared: "We had the extreme pleasure and privilege of having Maui and his owner, Amanda, visit our school multiple times throughout the school year. Maui was instrumental with helping numerous students for various needs. From a quick pick me up in the middle of their day to a comforting hug due to any stress or sadness. Unfortunately, our school experienced some traumatic events in a short period of time. Maui's presence couldn't have been timed better or been more needed. From students to staff, they all tried to catch a quick glimpse or snuggle from him. A question that is often asked by Members new to therapy dog work is when is it OK to end a therapy dog visit early? The short answer is always. As volunteers, we feel obligated to fulfill our duties to those we are visiting, but the most important thing to remember on a therapy dog visit is that our dogs always come first. Our dogs do not have the ability to let us know how they are feeling through words, so it is important that we listen to what they are telling us through their body language.
