Meet Tori Tori has competed EVERY SINGLE YEAR at the Rib Mountain Adventure Challenge since 2016 in the family division 👋. Tori began racing the 3 hour event and moved up to the 8 hour when she and her brother, Dakota, were older 👨‍👨‍👧‍👦. Tori's family has made the event an annual tradition and Tori became interested in participating beyond the local event. "We even compete together in other adventure races, which are a very fun summer training goal as well as a great accomplishment 🏅," said Tori. With Tori now a two sport collegiate student-athlete, she looked forward to returning home to do the event as a team with her family. The lifelong pursuit of endurance athletics began as a 3rd grader where she improved to compete on the national level. Her teammates have become a second family. "The people who run and ski with me are my closest friends," said Tori. Tori loves their mindset, willing to take on challenges. "We’re all on a team, we all strive for competition, but also choose to connect and bond with one another." Tori finds the toil of being an endurance athlete very rewarding. "Building up the mental strength to say “I CAN do this” while racing is hard 💪," admits Tori. So what's strategy for overcoming hurdles? She practices her positive mindset and takes on bigger challenges to make the day's obstacle seem more attainable. Tori's go-to saying in a race is “You’ve done worse.” As a STEM major, Tori takes breaks by running, skiing, and biking to give her mind a break. "Whether it’s a hard intensity workout that I gagged on my lunch for, or an over distance ski that I was hungry or thirsty during because I ate all my fuel too early, long distance competitions and training give me a rush like no other sport can," said Tori.
