Arts Space🎨 • Indie Bookshop📚 • Tea Room🫖 The mission of the Bottom is to build community, celebrate culture, and engage the creativity of Black people through curated events, ongoing projects, shared resources, and our multi-use community center. We are a Black owned, multi-purpose community space for literary, creative and educational programming. We address place issues for Black people in urban Appalachia and cultivate Black-focused arts and humanities programs and initiatives to a community that has, historically, been overlooked and underfunded. Beyond programming, we host affinity groups, skills training, exhibits, and events year-round and create space and avenues for our intergenerational community to engage in Black-centered and affirming arts, while uplifting local artists, authors, and makers.
