This Mother’s Day, we think of the countless mothers who endured the unimaginable loss of their sons aboard USS Indianapolis, during the Second World War. Many of these young men were not yet married—some still in their teens. For the mothers who received that devastating news, the grief was a burden, so heavy to bear.
