Each year over two million women and girls risk life threatening health problems due to FGM. KAMILIKA'S mission is to stop FGM and to assure women's rights by working directly with circumcisers, young women and girls. It provides health education; job training; forums for community leaders and village elders; counseling, safe houses and educational support for girls fleeing circumcision; and safe alternative rites of passage. It creates global awareness of the dangers of FGM and raises money to educate and support circumcisers and young women fleeing circumcision through the sale of beaded jewelry made by ex-circumcisers and through educational sponsorships.
