This Memorial Day, we pause to remember. Each morning, as we wake to the sound of birds and feel the sun on our faces, we are reminded of the incredible gift it is to live in a free nation. That freedom has come at a great cost—paid by those who gave everything so we could live in peace. Did you know that for every day the United States has existed, an average of 15 men and women have given their lives to protect our freedom? Many of those lives were lost during the Civil War and World War II, moments in history that shaped the very foundation of our nation. Today, at Rise Disaster Relief and Recovery, we would like to honor all those active and retired service members and remember every soul who laid down their life for our country. We are forever grateful for their courage, sacrifice, and love of country. May your day be filled with gratitude, peace, and the freedom their sacrifice has made possible.
