What started as a vision to create a calming mural sensory wellness space for students has become a vibrant overhaul of the school library, the addition of a teacher’s lounge, and an immersive mural at Ruby Van Meter School. From the first paint day with support from Art Advocates to tomorrow’s unveiling—we’re so proud to celebrate the new mural and sensory wellness space at Ruby Van Meter School! 🎨🧠 Ruby Van Meter serves students with significant intellectual disabilities and a wide range of additional needs, including physical, emotional, behavioral, and complex health and communication challenges. For many, school is their most consistent source of structure, support, and community. This space was designed with them in mind—a calming, tactile environment to help students reset, regulate, and feel safe, seen, and ready to learn. 💛🌿 The mural was designed and created by Jill WellsArt + @axa_mentorship as part of a collaboration in our Art For All program and generously sponsored by the Polk County Iowa.
