James River Horse Foundation
The James River Horse Foundation cares for 30 rescued race horses at the State Farm Work Center while training offenders in horse care. The James River Horse Foundation (JRHF) provides life sanctuary for unwanted off-the-track thoroughbreds by providing a home, care, and healthcare for life. Housed at the State Farm Work Center in Goochland, the sanctuary program is supported by nonviolent felons (previously men now women) in JRHFโs vocational horse management program. The vocational program helps inmates build life and work skills, and just as important, self-esteem and sense of purpose.
