🎥 Watch a short message from Yating Wong, DTRF Board Member, to learn more about why she supports RFA Virtual! Join Yating and many other supporters who are raising vital funds for desmoid tumor research, education, and advocacy. 📣 Running for Answers (RFA) is fully VIRTUAL this year. Even though there won't be an in-person run or walk this year, we're excited to see the desmoid tumor community carry on the RFA tradition to make an even bigger impact from around the world! ⭐️ Ready to launch your fundraiser page and make a difference? 🎥 A recording of our recent virtual event, "Understanding the Classification of Desmoid Tumors” is ready to watch. Spread the word by sharing this recording with your social networks today: https://vimeo.com/1089085286 Throughout the virtual event, we heard from our special guests about the challenges in communication faced by both patients and doctors, and what the desmoid community can do in the future to help alleviate misunderstandings about this rare disease. 💡Desmoid tumors (also known as aggressive fibromatosis, desmoid fibromatosis, and desmoid-type fibromatosis) do not metastasize. They are classified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as “Intermediate (locally aggressive)” soft tissue tumors. They do not fall under “Benign” or “Malignant” classifications. Learn more about desmoid tumors here: https://dtrf.org/about-desmoid-tumors/what-is-a-desmoid-tumor/ 🔗 Learn more about the World Health Organization's (WHO) classification of desmoid tumors, which is listed under Table II: Fibroblastic/Myofibroblastic Tumours: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8167394/ ⭐ Special thank you to Dr. Ravin Ratan, DeAnn Sorenson, and Dr. Alex Ommaya for their time and willingness to discuss this important topic and share their personal experiences with the DTRF community. #desmoidtumorawareness #DTRF #DesmoidTumorResearchFoundation #Desmoidian #DesmoidTumors #desmoidtumor #desmoidresearch #aggressivefibromatosis #FAP #OrphanDisease #raredisease #SpreadtheWord #DesmoidsareNOTbenign (fb)
