Trail Kids RVA’s mission is to provide free community-led group hikes and outdoor activities for Richmond region families, while fostering connections between families, local organizations, and businesses with similar goals and values. Trail Kids RVA believes in the physical and mental benefits of time spent outdoors, that the outdoors are for everyone, regardless of experience, gender expression, sexual orientation, family situation, race, ethnicity, or personal beliefs, and in the power of community and its ability to lower barriers and make the outdoors a more equitable space for all.

Trail Kids RVA Home About Us Hike with Us Support Us Merch More TRAIL KIDS RVA A 501c3 nonprofit community providing free hikes outdoor programs and resources to encourage families and kids of all ages in the Richmond VA area to get outside Raising Richmond Outdoors Trail Kids RVA was founded in 2023 by a group of parents with a passion for the outdoors and over a decade of combined experience leading family hikes in the Richmond VA area. Powered by the caregivers that volunteer Trail Kids RVA offers a welcoming nonjudgmental space where any parent or caregiver who wants to prioritize outdoor time for their family can draw from the wealth of knowledge that this community has. We are lucky to have a group of passionate engaged parents and caregivers who cheer each other on. If you have questions about how to get started hiking with kids which carrier to use where to find a good swimming hole in your part of town or want some tips on how to prevent meltdowns on the trail join our Facebook group and follow us on Instagram.
