The Historic Preservation Fund (HPF), the primary source of federal funding for historic preservation efforts, is at risk. Allocated funds for FY25 have yet to be released, and the President’s FY26 budget eliminates $158M in funding, nearly the entire amount of the fund. This fund is essential to the work of State and Tribal Historic Preservation Offices (SHPOs and THPOs) and Certified Local Governments, in Illinois and across the country. Landmarks Illinois is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Landmarks Illinois Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Preservation Awards🏆 The annual awards program honors outstanding preservation projects in Illinois and/or individuals, organizations and advocacy efforts that demonstrate a strong commitment to protecting the places that are important to the people and communities of Illinois.
