Featuring Bridging the PK Deficiency Community We are proud to announce the merger of the two primary nonprofits serving the PK deficiency community Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency Foundation and Thrive with Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency Organization to one combined organization entitled Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency International Alliance PKDIA. Pyruvate kinase deficiency is an ultrarare genetic hemolytic anemia that affects people and families of all ethnicities from around the world. Knowing that families living with PKD have contacted us from Tibet to Australia Brazil to Canada we are excited to extend our work internationally with hopes of finding countryspecific PKD ambassadors.

Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency Foundation
June 14th is World Blood Donor Day, a day to honor those who have donated blood in the past year. Blood donors are a valuable source of life for women experiencing bleeding related to pregnancy and childbirth, children suffering from severe anemia due to malaria or malnutrition, supporting complex medical and surgical procedures, and for providing regular, lifelong treatments for people with hemolytic anemias like those living with sickle cell disease, thalassemia, hemophilia, and #pyruvatekinasedeficiency. They also play a critical role in natural disasters and emergencies.
