Earning by Learning is an innovative, research-driven program founded on performance-based incentives that encourage children to read. While we offer incentives, it is both the tangible (cash) and intangible incentives (goal setting, choice, immediate feedback, self-efficacy, etc.) that create program success. Students’ results are monitored through a computerized software management system to ensure accountability, comprehension, response to intervention, and overall program success.Since Earning by Learning (EBL) was founded in 1996, 80,411 students have read over 750,641 books. In return we have awarded over $1.4 million. Students have read an additional 75,073 books above the 20 book limit for which no performance- based incentive was given.
