Our Mission - Esherick-Ye Foundation Supporting the Next Generation of China Scholars Our Mission Supporting the Next Generation of China Scholars China is one of the worlds largest economies. Whether viewed as an existential threat to the democratic West or a successful model for raising a peasant society out of poverty there is no question that China is a nation whose past and present must be studied and understood. The EsherickYe Foundation is devoted to supporting research on the modern history and ancient archaeology of China. It is committed to supporting systematic empirically based original research in these fields in the conviction that only by understanding a societys past can we fully understand a nations present.
