We are so thrilled to announce the winners of the Hamzanama 2022 Comic Contest! This is the Barzinji Prize Foundation's second time hosting this competition in honor of Hamza Al Barzinji, his love for comics, and the epic Hamzanama illustrated legends from the Mughal era. This year we had an even more incredible showcase of talent with artists and storytellers across the world submitting their unique chapters of the Infinite Adventures of Hamza. We asked creators to bring to life stories based on a straightforward premise: the heroic Hamza is equipped with a Makkan stone that allows him to travel across space and time to the people that need him most, often accompanied by his trusty band of sidekicks. This year's entries took that basic foundation to extraordinary places, sending Hamza far into dystopian futures, hurtling him back into ancient times, and having him square off against all types of foes from fantastical to fearsome to entirely unexpected. The art itself is also just as beautifully diverse and we encountered styles ranging from Frank Miller-esque noir to straight-up manga.
