Methods for measuring fine scale social proximity in small mammals https://doi.org/10.1093/jmammal/gyaf032 We used UV-curing epoxy resin to package proximity loggers and measure spatial proximity between prairie voles, with higher temporal resolution than possible via live-trapping. Our results show proof of proximity loggers recording fine-scale, 24-hour proximity of small mammals. (fb)
Additional Morphological Evidence for Taxonomic Diversity in the Pen-Tailed Treeshrew (Ptilocercus, Scandentia) https://doi.org/10.1093/jmammal/gyaf022 We investigate taxonomic boundaries of the 2 subspecies of Pen-tailed Treeshrew (Ptilocercus) by examining dimensions of the manus and pes, as well as the geometry of the lower second molar. Whereas the dimensions of the manus and pes are similar between subspecies, molar morphology is distinct, providing further evidence that these subspecies represent distinct lineages worthy of species-level recognition.
