Guardians of Flushing Bay Take Care of Flushing Waterways Guardians of Flushing Bay envisions a healthy and equitably accessible Flushing Waterways stewarded by a thriving collective who takes care of the water its coastal lands and each other. We are a coalition of humanpowered boaters park users and local residents advocating for a healthy and equitably accessible Flushing Waterways. We accomplish our goals through familyfriendly waterfront programming community science and stewardship and grassroots organizing. Our Challenges An Overwhelmed Sewer System The greatest threat to a healthy Flushing Waterways ecosystem is the citys overwhelmed sewer system which releases over two billion gallons of raw sewage and polluted storm water into the bay and creek every year and can cause local flooding.

Summer is underway and so are our cleanups at Flushing Bay π WHAT: Guardians of Flushing Bay is leading a shoreline cleanup. WHEN: Saturday, July 19β10am to 12pm WHERE: The cleanup will take place at the Flushing Bay shoreline. Meet in front of the Worldβs Fair Marina Banquet (1 Marina Rd, Queens, NY 11368).
