Important Info for parent providers of adult children. Parents can become paid care providers for their children once they turn 18 years old. Please note that parents CANNOT be paid to do respite hours, only care giving hours. The only way a parent can be paid to do respite hours is if one parent does not live in the same household. The parent designated as the primary caregiver (paid or unpaid) may be entitled to respite through the waiver services. But another parent cannot provide the respite unless they do not live with the client. Another family member living in the home can provide respite. Note however that the other family member cannot provide both respite and CFC in the same month, if they live with the client. If an adult sibling or other family member lives in a separate household, they can do both in the same month. Questions? Please let us know!
