Nonprofit publishing press bringing queer women, women of color, and underrepresented voices to the forefront of literature since 1982. Nonprofit women's publishing press, centering queer women and women of color since 1982. Aunt Lute Books’ is dedicated to publishing and distributing literature by women whose voices have been traditionally underrepresented in mainstream and small press publishing. We publish books that incorporate the histories and lives of women whose stories often go untold and organize community events that bring these stories to a wider audience while raising awareness about women’s, LGBT, and other issues. Our aim is to distribute literature that expresses the complexity and diversity of women’s lives and the possibilities for personal and social change.

Happy Birthday, Gloria Anzaldúa. This photo was taken at the historic Montreal Women's Book Fair in 1988–just ONE YEAR after Anzaldúa's book, Borderlands: La Frontera, was published by Aunt Lute Books. On the left is Joan Pinkvoss, co-founder of Aunt Lute Books, and on the right is Gloria Anzaldúa.
