For International Workers Day, May 1st, NFWM sent Elizabeth Rodriguez to join Migrant Justice / Justicia Migrante in an all day picket to demand Hannaford join the Milk with Dignity campaign. For 16 hours, @migrantjusticevt picketed, joined by over 30 organizations, and more than 500 people, local and others that traveled to be there. The presence was tremendous with dairy workers proudly and loudly asking customers to not shop at Hannaford until they agree to join the Milk with Dignity program. Recently the dairy community had been targeted by unwarranted ICE raids that led to the detention of 8 dairy workers. Since then we celebrate 5 workers have already been freed, thanks to Migrant Justice and the Vermont community. This was a reminder that Corporate America thrives off of immigrant labor and the workers deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, valued for their labor.
