Oceanic Global Short Film Festival 2025 Winning Film 🎬 “HAAGUA” By Marc Antony Chavez & Octavio Coutiño Aceves An Indigenous surf film rooted in cultural resurgence, HAAGUA explores the sacred relationship between Great Great-Grandmother Ocean and her great-grandchildren. Through surfing as both ancestral memory and spiritual practice, the film reveals a powerful story of regeneration, reconnection, and resistance along the West Coast. Directed by Indigenous filmmakers Marc Antony Chavez and Octavio Coutiño Aceves, and produced by Native Like Water, HAAGUA weaves together striking coastal imagery with lived stories of reclamation. It highlights how nature’s law and Indigenous ways of life are re-emerging after centuries of disruption. Currently on the international film festival circuit and community screenings, HAAGUA will be officially released to the public on streaming platforms in 2026. (fb)
