Talimali Band the Apalachee Indians of Louisiana Talimali Band the Apalachee Indians of Louisiana Protecting the Culture and History of Apalachee People in Louisiana since 1763 Weve been active in Central Louisiana for over 258 years. We have been active in holding cultural gatherings since the 1950s. Chief Gilmer Bennett was chief from 1957 to 2015. Our current chief put in place by Chief Gilmer is his son Arthur Bennett.
