When 3-year-old Landon Sawyer’s flu took a sudden and severe turn, his life depended on swift, expert care. Arkansas Children’s Hospital answered that call with a mobile ECMO transport across state lines, from Louisiana to Little Rock, and a multispecialty team that never stopped caring. From the Angel One Transport team to the nurses to wound care, child life, social work and pastoral care – every team member played a vital role in Landon’s recovery over the next 6 weeks. “From the time that we got there, it was like a well-oiled machine,” said Crystal Sawyer, Landon’s mother and a nurse herself. “Everybody was just all hands on deck the whole time.
