Day 3 Recap: It was not a standard workday today! This morning, we went to a local church with some of the MAF staff. The church worshipped with such joy as they sang and danced, praising God. 🙌 Even though the service was in French, so our ability to follow the sermon was limited, we all reflected that we still could sense the Holy Spirit’s presence throughout the service and through the generous hospitality afterwards. ❤️ After putting in a few hours of work (such as Adam shown here collecting electrical data), we traveled across town with the MAF team to join other local missionaries for their weekly gathering featuring fun (and competitive!) volleyball games. 🏐 To no one’s surprise, in between my team’s games, I played soccer with the kids. Somehow, on every one of my international EMI project trips, the Lord has gifted me an opportunity to connect with people through playing soccer! ⚽️ The night ended in a dramatic fashion, with the first large rainstorm of the rainy season rolling in. ⛈️ It was exciting for the local community and also adventurous for us as we couldn’t get one of our vehicles to start, right as the downpour started! Day 2 Recap: Today was a busy work day for the team! The architects are imagining how to remodel the existing buildings on site to better fit the ministry’s flexible housing needs, so after collecting many measurements, they started designing. ✍️ In the afternoon, they had a collaborative meeting with the MAF Chad leaders to review their initial design concepts. Meanwhile, the civil engineering team conducted a number of soil tests across the site and took a lot of measurements to complete the existing site conditions plan. 📐We are so grateful for the MAF staff (especially one of the guards who has worked for MAF for 20 years!) helping to answer even more of our questions today. There is also an electrical engineering team from the Netherlands here this week installing new electrical equipment who have been an awesome resource to teach us about the existing and new systems.⚡️ We ended the day today by joining the MAF staff and electrical team for their weekly tradition of eating pizza together. 🍕 Tomorrow, we are excited to attend a local church and meet other missionaries living here in N’Djamena! 💒 (fb)
