Whitefish Skatepark Association

The Whitefish Skatepark Association is a nonprofit organization based in Columbia Falls, Montana. It was established in 2022 by a group of local skateboard enthusiasts who recognized the need to improve and expand the existing skatepark in Whitefish, Montana.

Mission and Activities

The association's primary mission is to maintain and develop the public skatepark located within Armory Park in Whitefish. This skatepark, known as the Dave Olseth Memorial Skatepark, was originally designed by Dreamland Skateparks and opened in the fall of 2005. The park spans approximately 12,000 square feet and is exclusively for use by skateboarders and inline skaters.

The association plays a crucial role in organizing community efforts to enhance the skatepark, ensuring it remains a vibrant and safe recreational space for local youth and skaters of all ages. Their initiatives include fundraising and planning for expansions, such as adding new features like street plazas, rails, stairs, ledges, and other elements that cater to both seasoned skaters and beginners.

In 2023, the association completed the expansion of the skatepark with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Additionally, they received a grant of $20,000 from the Community Foundation to support their expansion projects.

As of 2023, the association had total revenues of $318,206, demonstrating significant financial support for their initiatives. Their work has transformed the skatepark into a thriving recreational hub in the heart of Whitefish, contributing to Montana's reputation as a skatepark destination.
