🎉 On Saturday, Dorchester School District Two proudly hosted our inaugural Empowering Our Community Conference for Students Who Learn Differently—a powerful day of connection, learning, and inspiration. Hosted by our Office of Special Services in partnership with the Special Services Parent Liaison Group and our Office of Professional Development, this first-of-its-kind event brought together over 150 parents, educators, and community members united in support of students who learn differently. Keynote speakers Raphael and Sarena James shared their family’s journey with authenticity and heart, reminding us all of the strength that comes from walking the road together. From 25+ breakout sessions to community resources, networking, and more—this conference was a testament to what’s possible when purpose meets partnership. 👏 Huge thanks to everyone who helped make this vision a reality. 🌍 School Spotlight: Newington Elementary Dolphins 🌍 On April 21st, Newington Elementary School students took a global journey without ever leaving campus! ✈️🌎 As part of their "Around the World" event, students began their day exploring the United States before grabbing their passports and traveling through the halls to visit stations representing over a dozen countries and cultures. Each stop offered mini-lessons filled with music, dance, storytelling, art, food, festivals, and history — creating an immersive and hands-on cultural experience. Many of the highlighted countries represented the rich backgrounds of Newington’s own Dolphin students and staff, making this event not just educational, but personal and powerful.
