Hi everyone! We have 3 wonderful pups at the Rocky Ford shelter this week, who will need out by Sunday, June 1. Transport is arranged for this weekend, please let us know if your rescue is able to help. Thank you all!! *DISCLAIMER* The La Junta & Rocky Ford shelters are holding facilities for police stations and DO NOT operate like city shelters. They do NOT allow adoptions due to city laws. Only approved PACFA 501c3 rescues can pull dogs from these shelters. Our organization is set up to network the dogs in these shelters to ALREADY approved rescue groups and then coordinate the transportation. We are just volunteers who network the dogs in these shelters to get them more exposure. These shelters usually give each dog a Duramane 5 Max vaccine, but that is all the vetting they receive. There are no vets on staff. We also coordinate transports each week (usually Saturday or Sunday) to the Denver area which is a 5-6 hour round trip drive — we just do the best we can, but we are so grateful to have all of you guys to help save these pups! Thank you all!! 🙏 Riggs (~2 year old male, 39 lbs, dog friendly) ❤ Hi guys! My name is Riggs and I'm an adorable heeler who was found here in La Junta, most likely dumped. As you can probably tell from my slightly blurry photos (lol), I’m a wiggly boy, full of fun and life, and the shelter environment is definitely not suitable for my high-energy lifestyle! I’m ready to bust out of here and start exploring this awesome state with my new humans. I’m only about 39 lbs, too, making me the perfect adventure dog, all in a small, compact package! In the meantime, I’ll be here at the shelter, waiting for the perfect foster to open their home to me. Could it possibly be you?? Trainer Evalutation: ✍️👩‍🏫🐾 Riggs is high energy, but his dog meet and greet went well. I think he needs proper introductions where he gets to take a walk with the other dog first otherwise, he’s going to be too rambunctious and the other dog he meets may not appreciate his energy. He is a sweet dog and needs a job like all Blue Heelers do.
