The Animal Rights Initiative (ARI) is a nonprofit organization based in the United States, founded in 2017 by a group of activists dedicated to advocating for animal liberation and protection. The organization operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and is recognized for its commitment to legislative advocacy, education, and community engagement in the fight against animal cruelty.

Mission

The mission of the Animal Rights Initiative is to end animal suffering and promote justice for all beings. ARI believes that the liberation of animals from human exploitation is interconnected with the liberation of all oppressed beings, advocating for social justice alongside animal rights. History

The Animal Rights Initiative was established in 2017 in Seattle, Washington, by a group of volunteers who were determined to create significant change in animal welfare. Since its inception, ARI has organized numerous educational events and campaigns across the United States. Notable initiatives include the 100-Day Stand against price gouging by Starbucks and weekly “Fur-Free Friday” events in Honolulu, Hawaii.

In 2019, the organization expanded its focus to include legislative actions aimed at preventing animal cruelty, further committing itself to advocacy at a policy level.

Programs and Initiatives

ARI offers various programs aimed at empowering activists and organizations to effectively engage in animal rights advocacy. One significant initiative is the Animal Policy Accelerator Program, a ten-month mentorship program designed to assist individuals and organizations in navigating the legislative process to pass impactful animal protection bills. The program combines one-on-one coaching, interactive workshops, and resources to equip participants with the tools necessary for successful advocacy.

Leadership

The leadership team includes individuals passionate about animal rights and activism. Amanda Fox serves as the Executive Director and is known for her strategic approach to legislative advocacy and community engagement. Wendy Linton serves as the Vice Chair of the Board and contributes significant project management skills. Other board members include Qualyn Margain and Joshua Diamond, whose experiences in management and operations support the organization's mission.
