Reclaimed Hope Initiative Reclaim Your Family. We are a support and advocacy organization founded to strengthen and empower families navigating foster care adoption and children with disabilities. Trauma and hardship changes families Research demonstrates that trauma and consistent hardship through medical physical andor emotional need has a significant impact on individual family members their relationships with each other and overall family functioning. According to the special needs parenting journal as many as 87 of caregivers develop burnout compassion fatigue vicarious trauma andor secondary traumatic stress.
