BCD I love this. I heard BCD from a highly motivated coach. I'm pretty sure he said he picked up the term from reading Urban Meyer's book. Anyway, I will do more research and confirm. By doing so, I will create a story and never forget BCD. Unfortunately, I think I will be able to use BCD for the rest of my days on planet earth. For sure, I will use BCD as long as I am running tennis practices with soft, pampered and privileged children. Oh and I must say, the brilliant term applies to all adults and yours truly. B = Blame C = Complain D = Defend I will always give credit where credit is due. I will not pretend the clever summary of human behavior is mine. Although, I think far too often one letter should be added. ABCD.........always blame, complain and defend. Here are a few thoughts pertaining to each verb: 1) (Blame) It's not my fault. I am lazy and, therefore, lousy because of someone else. 2) (Complain) Things are just not right, just not fair. I need to be more comfortable and happier with my day to day surroundings. 3) (Defend) Ego kills. I will protect my position on making the same silly, senseless and stupid mistakes day in and day out. I will start calling players over during practice to meet and review their most recent response to an assigned task. I will ask each player which verb best defines their current choice of mediocrity. Whether one liked or disliked Jimmy Connors, they had to admire and appreciate his true grit.
