The Friends of SMART is an advocacy group committed to helping create promote maintain and connect trails within Manistee County and to the growing trail system in Michigan. About us The Friends of SMART is a 501c3 nonprofit organization focused on nonmotorized recreation trail advocacy in Manistee County Michigan. It is our goal to advocate through fundraising and community support through strategic partnerships including Benzie Manistee Snowbirds Shoreline Cycling Club Manistee County government servicesManistee County Recreation Committee Michigan DNR Thompsonville Area Revitalization Networks Northwest as well as the gracious support of many other individuals and businesses.

Friends of Smartrails
SMART was out on the Chief grade today performing trail maintenance work. As we look forward to our trail expanding, our partnership with the Benzie Manistee Snowbirds provides upkeep and volunteer time that will help ease the prep for their snowmobiling season - in turn their end of season maintenance gives us a head start during our season. It has been great to work with the snowmobilers and allow for year long trail enjoyment on this section of trail.
