It’s #InternationalBiodiversityDay, and as the most biodiverse county in the contiguous U.S., we should be extra-hyped. Although we typically associate remote, undeveloped areas as the only places we can find tons of plants and wildlife, you may be surprised to learn that San Diego’s urban areas harbor an incredible array of native species. Our team of conservation biologists are surveying local urban canyons—yes, like the one in your neighborhood—to learn about what plants and wildlife live in these city green spaces. ➡️ Swipe to see some of the incredible species they’ve spotted so far.
