FIA-EB (formerly OCO) develops leaders who build power through community organizing to bring about systemic change for families. Member of @FIAnational Faith in Action East Bay (formerly Oakland Community Organizations) is a broad-based organization of 40 congregations and 15 schools, representing over 40,000 families throughout the East Bay. Our mission is to develop leaders who power through community. Founded in 1972, Faith In Action East Bay (formerly Oakland Community Organizations) is a multi-racial, multi-ethnic, multi-faith federation of 80 congregations, schools, and allied community organizations, representing over 60,000 families in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Our mission is to develop leaders who build power through their congregations and schools to drive systemic change, and improve the quality of life for their families. At FIAEB, we envision a racially just community where all children and families belong, exercise power to shape public decisions, and have equal access to excellent public schools, affordable housing, good job opportunities, quality healthcare, and safe, clean, and vibrant neighborhoods.

We all want safer, thriving communities. Study after study proves that incarceration isn’t how we get there. People who receive programs and services—like behavioral healthcare, housing services, and job training—are 2X less likely to be rearrested. By passing #AB1231, our leaders will invest in a better future for California. There is floor vote for AB 1231 coming up on June 4.
