We're a non-profit group whose mission is the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of rescued dachshunds into loving and permanent homes. Florida Dachshund Rescue, Inc. (FLDR) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization incorporated in 2003. Florida Dachshund Rescue, Inc. (FLDR) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization incorporated in 2003, comprised of experienced rescue people throughout Florida who share the same philosophies, goals and love of the dachshund breed.FLDR is an all volunteer group that views its mission as rescue, rehabilitation and placement of rescued dachshunds into loving and permanent homes. We also provide education to the public on the dachshund breed, puppy mills and the importance of spay/neuter. When we educate people on proper animal care, we can help eliminate abuse and neglect.

FLORIDA DACHSHUND RESCUE

Meet Sawyer from the Pasco County Animal Shelter. The shelter reported that Sawyer is a 1-year-old, brown dachshund, and weighs 14 pounds. Sawyer came in as a severely injured stay on May 12th. He was found bleeding in a neighbor’s yard. Sawyer was rushed in for immediate treatment. It was suspected he was hit by a car causing head trauma and a skull fracture. Sawyer is sweet and loving. He is ambulatory on all 4 legs; however, he is very withdrawn and dull – understandably so. Sawyer is an “As-Is” rescue only dog and will need a full-service veterinarian follow up immediately. Sawyer has an appointment at a neurologist on Monday 5/19. The bill is expected to be THOUSANDS of dollars for further testing & treatment of his skull fracture.
