Happy New Year to All! The New Year’s resolution here at The Begonian is to encourage as many members as possible to send in a photo or two of your Begonia collection for publication. It’s fun to see how other people set up and grow their plants. So, this year send your photos, along with a little backstory, to be published in The Begonian. Our first photos come from A Begonia Garden in Topeka, KS (cover and page 9). • A treat for terrarium growers! An article on building a winning terrarium—from inspiration to blue ribbon. The winner of the Terrarium Class at the ABS Convention in Long Beach, CA 2024 shares her thought process and methods. And another long-time terrarium grower encapsulates her experience and the plants she prefers. • Begonia arnottiana, a critically endangered species in SW India, is being propagated for safekeeping. Read more about these ex-situ collections and how they work, starting on page 16. • For more than 1000 years, begonias have been depicted in Chinese art. In Research and Review of Begonia 1: Textual Research of Chinese Begonia Part 1 (page 27), some of the earliest mentions and depictions of begonias are examined.
