Aortic Hope, Inc.

Overview

Aortic Hope, Inc. is a U.S. nonprofit organization, registered as a 501(c)(3) charity. It serves a community of patients, survivors, and caregivers affected by aortic disease. The mission of Aortic Hope is to spread hope, create awareness, and provide support during the recovery and management of aortic disease.

History

Aortic Hope was established by two aortic disease survivors who sought to create a supportive community. After meeting with a caregiver for Marfan Syndrome patients, they recognized the need for a comprehensive organization to address various aspects of aortic disease. This led to the formation of Aortic Hope, which has since grown into a globally recognized nonprofit.

Programs and Activities

Aortic Hope implements its mission through several programs and activities:

Spread Hope

• Inspirational Stories: Aortic Hope shares community members' stories to inspire and uplift those affected by aortic disease.
• Hope Mail Care Packages: The organization sends care packages to community members, often in recognition of significant personal milestones, such as their "Aortaversary."
• Saturday Survivor Video and Blog Series: This platform allows survivors to share their experiences, providing a source of hope for others.

Create Awareness

• Public Outreach: Aortic Hope actively participates in radio shows, podcasts, and television programs to raise awareness about aortic disease.
• Collaborative Efforts: The organization works closely with other groups, such as Think Aorta US, to educate medical professionals about the importance of considering aortic conditions during diagnosis.
• Aortic Dissection: The Patient Guide: Aortic Hope, with permission from Aortic Dissection Awareness UK & Ireland, has produced an American version of this guide, aimed at patients and their caregivers.

Provide Support

• Online Support Groups: Aortic Hope hosts weekly virtual support groups for patients, survivors, and caregivers, offering a safe space to connect and share experiences.
• Live Q&A Sessions: These sessions feature professionals in aortic health, allowing community members to ask questions and receive real-time answers.
• Collaborations: The organization partners with groups like The Mended Hearts to support community members in becoming mentors.

Resources

Aortic Hope provides and promotes various resources for the aortic disease community, including educational materials, guides, and collaborations with medical institutions.
