For 72 years, the mission of the Urban League continues to be to assist African Americans, other minorities and the poor to achieve social and economic equality. Our vision is to become the principal advocate for systems which provide opportunities for academic and social achievement. To also become the means to attain economic self-sufficiency and help shape a social and economic climate which values diversity and racial inclusion. By analyzing community conditions and surveying program participants, the Urban League of Greater Oklahoma City (ULOKC) has identified unmet needs, which include services that promote and prepare individuals for economic self-reliance through access to education and employment opportunities. Over its seventy-two year history, the ULOKC has served the Oklahoma City metropolitan area and specifically the northeast community of Oklahoma City, consistently addressing the issue of poverty facing African Americans and other demographic groups.
